What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® are translucent braces that use a series of clear plastic removable aligners. They are custom created for each patient.
How often do I have to wear my Invisalign® aligners?
Trays are expected to be removed when eating, flossing, and brushing. In total, the clear aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day. Each set of aligners is worn for two weeks to allow for a gradual shift of one’s teeth into alignment.
How does the Invisalign® system work?
Tooth-coloured buttons on some teeth or a slight reduction of less than 1mm between teeth may be needed to allow teeth enough room to shift. The dentist monitors progress and aligners are changed when teeth have shifted sufficiently with the current custom tray.
Once treatment is complete, life-long retention of a straight smile through nighttime only retainers or fixed wires within the inside of teeth are needed in order to prevent relapse.
Who is suitable for Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is an option for adults who would like to maintain as much discretion as possible during their orthodontic treatment. They are best suited for mild orthodontic cases. Invisalign® requires commitment and compliance since the trays can be removed.
What is involved in a consultation?
In order to assess your suitability for Invisalign, we generally complete an examination of your teeth and overall oral health. We also take a combination of photos, X-rays, and impressions, as well as gauge your compliance for this procedure.
What is my role as an Invisalign® patient?
Compliance includes wearing required appliances appropriately, attending monthly scheduled appointments and maintaining excellent oral hygiene. Overall these mentioned tests would help determine whether you are a good candidate for Invisalign®
