How can Cornerstone Dental help?

At our Brantford dental clinic, we take considerable time and effort to ensure you get the most comfortable fit, function, and esthetics possible from your dentures.

For those who have had a long history of difficulty with dentures, mini implants offer an affordable and minimally invasive way to enhance stability and comfort.

What are the different types of dentures?

Complete dentures replace all of the teeth in the top and/or bottom section of your mouth, and are generally made from acrylic with acrylic or porcelain teeth. Complete dentures can be also be combined with implants for a secure fit.

Partial dentures are used to replace one or more missing teeth. They are usually made from a combination of metal and acrylic.

How often should dentures be replaced in order to maintain good health?

Both the American and Canadian Dental Associations recommend that dentures be replaced every 5 years.

Based on those recommendations, many dental insurance programs also recognize that it’s advisable to replace dentures after 5 years and will often assist with the cost for fabrication of new ones at the 5 year mark.

What can happen if I do not change my dentures often enough?

Decreased efficiency in chewing function can lead to dietary changes that in turn can lead to digestive issues including colon problems. Headaches, earaches, neck pain and TMJ (jaw joint) problems may arise as the bite becomes over closed with time.

In addition to the health issues, aesthetic changes also occur as the bone and supporting tissues shrink. Lip and cheek support may be lost due to missing teeth.
